Bowie-inspired fashion story with Hannah Vandermolen for Beautiful Savage magazine
This new fashion editorial was built around a mood — specifically, the haunted pulse of Bowie’s Love Is Lost. That tension between presence and erasure, performance and retreat. The title for the story came straight from the track: Oh, What Have You Done?
I shot it with Hannah Vandermolen, who remains the most intuitive model I’ve worked with — and not coincidentally, a serious artist in her own right. The kind of collaborator who reshapes the room just by stepping into it.
What we made together is two edits of the same editorial. One’s live now at Beautiful Savage, and appears below in this post. The other will appear as a 12-page print spread in the magazine’s next issue. Both trace the same current — stark light, body suspended mid-fall, full of motion, but impossible to place in time. That kind of weightless tension became the shape of the shoot. It’s fashion in theory, but something else in practice.
Hannah was the only person I wanted for this. Not just for how she moves, but for what she brings to the frame before anything’s said. There’s no need to over-explain anything with her — she reads tone instantly and builds on it. We worked quietly, stayed in the rhythm, and let the mood carry it. The result holds.
