ABOUT THE BOOK
Fucking New York is about fucking New York. Literally.
Fucking New York is the Sex & the City idea that ‘when you live in New York City, you’re in a relationship with it,’ turned up to eleven. If this is true—if you’re in a relationship with the city—then what would sex with the city look like? What would it feel like? How would you fuck New York?
Nikola Tamindzic's Fucking New York offers an exciting, provocative and playful take on the absurd relationship between New Yorkers and their city. New York is a disgusting, dirty, rude, unpleasant city, and those who live here and love it want it in them, on them, and about them. At once an epithet, an exhortation, a desire, and an active state, Fucking New York is a dizzy swirl: The Bronx is up and the Battery’s down, and the women are humping concrete all over town.
WHY A PHYSICAL HARDCOVER BOOK?
The internet has made it possible to enjoy many things from our computers and mobile phones; but there are still some things that cannot be replicated on a computer screen. A book, or an art print, resonates with the viewer in a deeper, more personal way. There is a personal investment involved by taking the time to turn the pages of a book and appreciate the tactile nature of the medium; time moves differently as you pause to admire the details in an image that you might have otherwise quickly scrolled past on a screen. This is also why Fucking New York will not be available as a digital download.
Fucking New York was conceived as a book from the very beginning. To ensure that the experience of exploring the pages matches the imagery contained inside, the book is printed in Verona, Italy, at the same facility The Metropolitan Museum of Art prints their catalogs, and whose printers are regarded as the best in the world.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Nikola Tamindzic is a celebrated New York City art & fashion photographer. He established his career in photography when he joined Gawker as a House Photographer in 2004; his work was subject of a cover story in The British Journal of Photography in 2007, and a profile in The New York Times in 2008. This recognition led to an invitation by US Vogue to join as a regular photo contributor; to numerous editorial assignments (Harper’s Bazaar, NYLON, The New Yorker); and work with art galleries and art collectors.
In the vein of predecessors who have sought to capture the uncanny in the everyday — Guy Bourdin, Francesca Woodman, and David Lynch — Nikola's distinctive photographs portray a world that is beyond our reach.
